Special Education Teacher-Academically Gifted (Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana)
Develop and execute Individualized Educational Plans for Academically Gifted students who have higher cognitive and intellectual capabilities to provide academic enrichment; i.e. challenging curriculum unique to the child's capability to enrich, accelerate their higher level of thinking. Plan and develop enrichment in core academic subjects through individualized instruction to academically gifted K-12 students (elementary and secondary level students in public schools) by applying state standards of learning and curriculum of the district s academically gifted program. Develop engaging lessons and project based learning activities to cater to the multiple intelligences of academically gifted students and alter instructional plans to meet individual student needs. Provide stimulating experiences to enhance the intellectual capabilities of the academically gifted students. Complete progress reports and additional appropriate reports as required. Identify academically gifted students through intelligence and cognitive screenings.
Requires a Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Academically Gifted with a Masters degree in Math. Teaching at 2 Elementary schools and 2 high schools, which are under the Plaquemines Parish School Board.
