Louisiana Tech University is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Manager of Building Services.
The Assistant Manager of Building Services is responsible for assisting in the management of maintenance and custodial work in all Residential Life facilities in order to ensure that units are maintained in a safe and reasonable manner. Reporting to the Manager of Building Services and Special Programs, the Assistant Manager of Building Services will ensure that all operations are conducted in a respectful and responsible way, making sure that all decisions and actions comply with the relevant legislations, policies, and procedures of the University. The candidate must be able to supervise and lead maintenance/custodial staff in an effective manner to ensure the level of morale is maintained. He/she must also be able to respond to concerns and complaints of residents/parents in a positive and courteous manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting performance evaluations for civil service employees, conducting routine inspections of residential facilities for needed repairs and services and to monitor work of the staff, assisting in the coordination of emergency and regular repairs, supervising civil service custodial and maintenance staff, as well as training and developing staff. This employee is also responsible for preparing plans for short-term projects, supervising contract work, overseeing the FOB system giving students and staff access to halls, and constant communication with coordinators of student development regarding work/issues within their assigned work areas per the Manager of Building Services and Special Programs. This employee will supervise the coordination and staffing of summer custodial work within Residential Life specific to the apartments on campus prior to and after summer camps and in preparation for Fall move in of residents.
The person holding this position must possess outstanding professional leadership skills and communication skills; earned bachelor’s degree and three years of applicable experience required; knowledge of building maintenance and custodial work, maintenance planning, and administration. This person should also be available to respond to maintenance and custodial emergencies 24 hours a day.
